The Dunne Bierkade and the Paviljoensgracht are special. It is one of a kind that so many famous painters have lived in houses of the Buitenmuseum. From the 17th century this was the breeding nest of creativity.

The house of Jan van Goyen, Jan Steen and Paulus Potter:
The Hague was an important painter’s city in the Golden Age. At the time, Paulus Potter, Jan van Goyen and Jan Steen lived and worked on the Dunne Bierkade. Step back in time and discover the residence and studios of these famous artists.

The Van Gogh Experience:
Few know that Vincent van Gogh started his career as an artist in The Hague. He made much of his first work in The Hague, where he spent 6 years of his 37-year life. He received his first paid assignment and wrote his first letters here. Nowhere in his adult life did he stay longer than in The Hague which had a big influence on his future work.
