Huygens Museum: location Hofwijck

Westeinde 2A, 2275 AD Voorburg

The Huygens Museum invites visitors to marvel and takes them on a journey through 2,000 years of history. Its two historic locations in the heart of Voorburg form the beating heart of the museum.

At Hofwijck, the life of Constantijn Huygens (1596–1687) comes into focus: diplomat, poet, musician, and architect. He designed this country estate as a harmonious retreat from the bustle of The Hague. His son, the world-renowned scientist Christiaan Huygens, also lived and worked here. The beautifully preserved house and gardens offer a unique glimpse into a world where art, nature, and science came together. A visit to Hofwijck is a true encounter with the richness of the Dutch Golden Age.

Did you know? Both locations are just a 15-minute bike ride from The Hague Central Station and a 5-minute walk from Voorburg Station.
