The Kloosterkerk (the Monastery Church) on the corner of the stately Lange Voorhout and Parkstraat is one of the oldest buildings in The Hague. The church and Convent of the Dominican Order were built between 1397 and 1403 by Order of Margaret of Cleves, the then Countess of Holland. Nowadays the Kloosterkerk is home to a lively ecumenical-protestant community, coming together here every Sunday. Each last Sunday of the month – except in July – the popular Bach Cantata services take place. Not only church services take place, but also courses, concerts, expositions and events. There are luncheon time concerts on the first and third Wednesday of the month. During the summer months the Kloosterkerk is open to visitors from Wednesday to Sunday, always from 12.00 to 16.00.
