Mescidi Aksa Mosque

Wagenstraat 103, 2512 AS Den Haag

Step inside the Mescidi Aksa Mosque: a vibrant mosque with a unique past, right in the heart of The Hague.
Originally built as a neoclassical synagogue in 1844, this monumental building has housed the city’s Turkish Islamic community since 1981. The imposing façade with two 26-metre-high minarets immediately makes an impression, both from the outside and from the inside.

The space exudes history: from Jewish religious services to Islamic prayer moments, with a colourful mihrab, a central minbar and a serene atmosphere that invites reflection.

This is the place to experience a cultural crossover. During Museum Night, the doors open for a warm welcome, a guided tour full of stories about faith, architecture and identity, and meetings with young members of the mosque community.
A hidden gem in The Hague that you absolutely do not want to miss during Museum Night.
