Isla Clarke x June Crespo
For the occasion of Museum Night, 1646 has invited dancer Isla Clarke from Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) to physically respond to the exhibition their weft, the grass by internationally renown artist June Crespo.
June Crespo is a sculptor with a strong connection to everyday objects, the physical body and the spaces we inhabit. For her, these all become materials to work with, to think from. With the exhibition their weft, the grass, the artist poetically explores the connection between our bodies and architecture, between our insides and the place we find ourselves in.
Isla Clarke will be dancing an ongoing, durational performance, behaving as a spectator. As an extension of the sculptures, she will respond to the composition of the entire space; almost as a study on gut feelings. Moving in between emotional and physical states, she aims to embody the sculptures of June Crespo by simply existing in the middle of them.
While watching the moving body, you can enjoy delicious drinks because the special 1646 cocktail bar will be open!
